NEWSLETTER: Lessons from "The Social Network"
Friend,
More than likely you checked out "The Social Network" over the past
few weekends. If not, stop reading this and go to your nearest theater
immediately and check it out. It was a great movie and it's packed full of lessons
for any aspiring entrepreneur. And if you are a hip hop artist then
whether you like it or not, you are an entrepreneur. One of the main
lessons that I took away from this movie is the idea of "supplying what people
really want".
You see, so many people who want to "make it big" are going
about it in the wrong way. Their focus is on coming up with the next
big idea, instead of looking for what is missing.
Let me explain.
Most people's focus is on creating something brand new that no
one has ever seen, instead of looking for what people are already
asking for that their NOT GETTING.
Does this distinction make sense to you?
You see, In the social network Mark Zuckerberg stumbles onto an
idea that people were ALREADY CRAVING FOR. He didn't sit down one
day and say "Hey, I want to create that next biggest thing".
NO.
He paid attention to what was already going on, and found out
exactly what people were already craving that they weren't getting.
It was with his keen observation and talent that Mark
Zuckerberg became the youngest billionaire on planet earth.
I suggest you do the same. Give up trying to create something brand new,
and focus on supplying people with what they really want.
And here's the paradox: by focusing on trying to create something
brand new, you'll probably create something commonplace and boring.
And by focusing on supplying people what they really want,
you will more than likely create something brand new.
The latter is the way to go.
Until next time...
